Dr. Barnabas Kwame Yeboah (Associate Consultant)

Education : PhD. (Public Health, Texila American University/University of Nicaragua).
Country of Birth: Ghana
Current Position: National Coordinator of Community-Based Health Planning & Services (CHPS), Ministry of Health Accra-Ghana.

Dr. Yeboah has over a 17 years of experience in Public Health and clinical practice across the African continent with background in public health issues related to Healthcare Administration; Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Community Health Coordination; Maternal, Child Health & Nutrition; Nursing & Midwifery and Telemedicine Diagnostics and Innovations. Throughout Dr. Yeboah’s industry-academic careers he has assisted, built and maintained professional relationships with various healthcare institutions and policy makers in Ghana at facility, district, regional, national and across the African sub-region and internationally. Dr. Yeboah has facilitated, directly led, coordinated or contributed to a number of policy documents and interventions at the level of the Ministry of Health notable among them are the coordination of the development of Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan (2019-2023); sub-task team leader for the contextualization of SGDs for health in Ghana; Decentralization of Ghana’s health system, core team member of the National Quality Strategy, Development of Training Manual and Curriculum for CHPS, and very recently the National Health Policy(Task Team member) etc. He is a trained Quality Improvement Coach certified by Institute of Health Improvement (IHI).

As a member of professional associations such as the Chartered Management Institute-UK; Ghana Registered Nurses & Midwives Association; and the Society of HIV/AIDS-South Africa, Dr. Yeboah has held several positions and worked with different international organizations on projects related to public health. Currently, he serves as country program Representative on UNFPA in Ghana; he is the focal person of the World Bank Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition and has been a member of KOICA CHPS+ Project Advisory; CHPS for Life (JICA) Joint Consultative Committee, Ghana. From May December 2017, Dr Yeboah Chaired the Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan Development Core Working Group. Also, he served on several committees such as; a member of the National Health Policy Consultative Core Working Group from May-October 2017; Task Team Leader, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Indicators Group and a member of SDGs Indicators Groups Sub-Committee for the MOH.

Dr. Yeboah as part of professional career experiences has attended several workshops and conferences such as: Aspen AMP Public Health Leadership and Management Lab in Rwanda; UNFPA WACO Conference on Neonatal Health in Senegal; World Bank Flagship course in Health System Strengthening and Healthcare Financing-Ghana; Project Management in Korea and Community Health and Life Course Approach in Japan.
He is currently a certified Quality Improvement Coach by Institute of Health Improvement(IHI).
In 2014, Dr. Yeboah received a Certificate of Recognition by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Techiman, Ghana for the role he played in the establishment of a Nursing and Midwifery Training College.
