Water Resource Conflict And Management

According to the World Bank Report, June 2017, inadequate rainfalls have led to abnormal seasonal dryness in areas of Kenya, Southern Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda. Worsening drought conditions will severely affect agricultural production, push food prices higher and increase food insecurity.

Equally important to this report is freshwater scarcity in most African countries. The inability of many developing countries to develop comprehensive policies to effectively manage water resources have also contributed to water scarcity. They include faulty economic policies, inflexible political structures, oligarchical regimes, oppressive governments, and other adverse factors that have nothing to do with the environment (Myers, 1995)
